ComponentReadOnlyException Class

Represents an exception that is thrown when an attempt is made to set a component of a Vector<T> or Matrix<T> whose value is fixed.

Definition

Namespace: Extreme.Mathematics.LinearAlgebra
Assembly: Extreme.Numerics (in Extreme.Numerics.dll) Version: 8.1.23
C#
[SerializableAttribute]
public class ComponentReadOnlyException : InvalidOperationException
Inheritance
Object  →  Exception  →  SystemException  →  InvalidOperationException  →  ComponentReadOnlyException

Remarks

Many matrices have a clearly defined structure. For example, all elements above the diagonal of a lower triangular matrix are zero. If the matrix is also unit diagonal, then its diagonal elements have the fixed value of 1.

Changing the value of one of these elements would cause the vector or matrix to lose its structure. This is not allowed. If an attempt is made to do so, a ComponentReadOnlyException is thrown.

You can verify whether a component of a vector is writable by calling its IsElementWritable(Int32) method. You can verify whether a component of a matrix is writable by calling its IsElementWritable(Int32, Int32) method. These methods return false if the component is read-only, and a ComponentReadOnlyException would be thrown if an attempt was made to change its value.
