Remarks
This type is immutable. The current implementation records only measurement-scale metadata. Additional semantic metadata categories may be added in later schema stages.
A default instance means no semantic metadata has been explicitly assigned. Measurement scale is caller-supplied and is not inferred from the column element type.
Measurement scale describes the meaning of the represented values, independent of whether the column is stored in an ordinary vector or a categorical vector. A column backed by ICategoricalVector may therefore validly carry nominal, ordinal, interval, or ratio semantics.
