T

The column element type.

Schema metadata describes the logical representation used by a column, and may normalize lower-level vector metadata to make that representation explicit. For ordinary missing-aware vectors whose configured sentinel is the effective representation, schema reports ByValue.

The typed missing value is the configured by-value sentinel. It is meaningful as a sentinel only when Representation is ByValue. Logical-mask, index-mask, and no-missing-value representations do not expose a typed missing sentinel through schema.

For categorical vectors, missing category assignments are represented by level index -1 and the missing-value representation is IndexMask. Category missingness is not represented by a typed category sentinel.
